Introduction
I am Annie from Kansas. This is a brand new blog that I will use as my expression of my love for what I do all day – make home for my husband, cloth diaper my baby, potty train and parent my toddler and strive for a better body after the baby.
I am a member of a great message board Diaperswappers and there is a mom on there that started a “body after baby challenge.” Lots of other mothers are doing it too and I’m joining in the fun! My story is not very unique…I had a cute 140 pound body when I met my husband at 19 years old. Then I had 2 children and now I am 155 – with a different shaped body at that. According to health experts my small 5′4 frame would be healthiest at 135 pounds so that is what I am striving for! Plus, I don’t have very many clothes that fit me, so losing the weight will save us money (from me buying clothes to fit).
My goals are:
Lose 10 pounds by my 25th birthday on August 17th
Lose 10 additional pounds by Thanksgiving
AND have gained such a healthy lifestyle that I keep it off!
I want a bit more tone to my body as well, not just skinnier
Eating better so I can influence my family to do so as well
Today was just an introduction and is actually a “cheat” day. I am giving myself one cheat day a week or else I will cheat in small ways everyday, defeating my purpose! Today is a cheat day because Josh is taking us out for brunch and then tonight is girls night out with 2 of my best friends!
We can’t afford a gym membership at the moment (go Dave Ramsey! yay!) But I own a dance aerobic DVD that I do for 10-20 minutes 3-5 times a week. We also have a 1/4th mile long driveway that if I wear my 3 month old and walk with my 2 year old can be great for me. We have a 1 level home, no stairs. I have thought about having “dance time” with Lizzie once a day where we just turn on the radio and dance and go crazy for some good cardio time!
Any other ideas for how I can help burn calories and fat without having to go to a gym? How can I tone my body without weights?
Thanks!

Woohoo! Annie – I know what you mean about getting in shape to NOT have to buy new clothes! As for the workout – I'm on my own with the babes, so no gym for me. I like to plop their combined weight of 48 lbs in a stroller and push it up hills! Daniel and I also do a lot of "The grand old duke of york" to work the arms! Just do fun stuff that gets your body moving – and use those babies for resistance!

Hey, I'm right there with ya momma! My baby is almost 4 months old. I'm 5'2" and 163 lbs. I need to be down to 125. I'm training for a half marathon and doing dvds as well. My driveway is 1/10 of a mile long and so I jog and walk in my driveway. I have 3 children 4 yrs and under, so I know the challenges of making time for yourself. I've lost over 30 lbs so far since baby and I want to be down 20 lbs by mid October and the rest will come after.
Hey Annie! Water & walking is what I hear works. I'm going to need a lot of motivation these next 8 weeks! I am glad we were put on teams!
I love your exercise routine of dancing and walking!! And if your daughter is anything like mine she will absolutely love "dance time". I am so happy that we are on the same team and look forward to getting to know you through this journey!!
