Aloha Friday! Saving Money at Christmas

December 18, 2009 Uncategorized

The last friday before Christmas! Time to hop around the blogosphere with my favorite end of the week meme. Just a fun time to ask a simple question and give a simple answer. It is an easy way to make new friends too.
The hub is centered at Islandlife808.com
My Question:

Has Christmas this year changed for you because of the economy?
My answer:

Yes it has.
Usually we see buying gifts as our way of expressing our love and appreciation for our families. This year money got so very tight that we had to find more creative ways of showing our devotion. I won a large amount of gifts from online giveaways on other blogs.
The rest is homemade.
One good thing was I was able to avoid the crowds at the stores!

Yes, we totally cut back this year, but we have wanted to for reasons other than the current economic situation. Our main reason is Christmas is about Jesus…its His birthday…not ours.

Yes it has. We have always lived paycheck to paycheck however so while I feel awful that I cannot afford gifts. It is what it is.

We ended up spending twice as much on the kids this year as we did last year, but we're only buying for immediate family to make up for it.

This year we've spent quite a bit less on Christmas gifts than in years past and have opted out of buying gifts for the adults.
