Putting up our Christmas Tree
December 1, 2009 Uncategorized
I adore this time of year! And this is the first time Josh and I have decorated for Christmas. Oh the memories we made tonight.
Lizzie put her first ornament on the tree – she just laid the glass bulb on the branch and was so proud of herself for making it stay. Then, it rolled off and shattered at her feet. She was more shocked than anything, thankfully she didn’t step on the glass.
She was even happier to put her Sesemee Street oraments on the tree. I am doing what Josh’s mom did for him. I am buying my children one ornament each year for their personal Christmas box. Then they can put their ornaments on the tree. Lizzie has a log cabin (we lived in Josh’s parent’s log home during her first Christmas) and the Sesemee Street ones. I haven’t bought Bubs one or her one this year yet. I can’t wait though!
I don’t have any ornaments like this. Unfortunately my childhood memories didn’t survive a flood. The only childhood memories I have are a few videos and photographs. But I am going to do my best to preserve these for Lizzie and Bubs.
We need a nativity! I am going to move this pretty candle and put the nativity there. But I need to make it a child friendly one since I know Lizzie will be playing with it every chance she gets.
Welcome to the Christmas season!

Wow! How pretty! Looking at all these photos is making me want to start decorating. Let's see, blog or decorate for Christmas. I think blogging is going to win for the next few days Lol!
What a nice idea about buying an ornament per year. I have a 3 1/2 year old and that would be a nice tradition for her too. Sorry to hear that most of your memories were washed away in a flood. Hold those photos dear and put them in a high and dry place!
Sounds like you guys had a great time! Buying a new ornament every year is a great idea…I may have to try that with our son. He would love it! Every year is more and more fun as kids get older and start to "get it." Enjoy!!
My parents and DH's parents still buy us an ornament every year for Christmas. Our tree is a little bit full, but we love it.
They make a lot of nativity sets that are kid friendly. You could even get her, her own. We have a fisher price little people set that Fiona loves. I've also seen plastic precious moment sets that are meant more for kids.
what a pretty tree! your angel is so cute. I opt for the star because I can never find an angel I really like.

I saw them in person and they are really cute!
Your tree is really pretty!
Oh, the idea of an angel on top of the tree is perfect! What a beautiful tradition!
I wish we had white lights! They look so beautiful!!
So pretty! We buy our little one a new ornament each year to add to the tree (which is filled with decorations from our childhood) too. I think it's a wonderful tradition!
Little People has a nativity set designed for kids. I'm going to try to find one after the holiday & hope it's on sale!
