Orlando Vacation, Personal Thoughts

January 20, 2010 Family

Here I sit, in my condo. The laptop on my lap, David sleeping next to me in bed.  I have so many things I want to share – I had a fantastic time meeting two amazing bloggers today. I really had fun touring the Titanic museum, David is a super fantastic baby to take on vacation, food is expensive on vacation, and driving in Orlando is fine it is trying to read directions in reverse that confuses me.

Let me share a story. After a delightful visit with Lee from My Sentiments Exactlee blog and Jeanine from I Could Use a Deal, I headed home.  It only took me 30 minutes from my condo to get to her house and I had to pick up my Father in Law from his vet conference at 5pm so I left her house at 4:20pm.  The very first mistake I made was turning right instead of left onto the highway from her house.  Then I thought I was set!  Until I missed my exit and had to drive 20 miles out of the way to get back to I4 east for Orlando.  Yup, that exit was the “shortest distance between two points is a straight line.”  Finally, 1 hour and $3 later I reached Orlando. Only to fly right past exit 57 – the one that takes me to the World Marriot Center where my father in law was.  I was almost in tears as I saw the exit fly by!  But, I just took the next exit, got back on interstate and right onto my correct highway.  After picking him up I had even more troubles!  Another driver almost ran into my side as he drifted into my lane – I swerved and almost puked.  We decided a fun dinner was in order and tried to find Downtown Disney.  1 hour later, we finally arrived.  I am exhausted.  But boy was the Rainforest Cafe a fun time!  Thunder, lightning, live-ish animals!  David LOVED it and I was amused too.

But that is about as dramatic as this trip has been so I count my blessings.  And praise the Lord David has such a calm spirit.  He didn’t throw one single fit – even after being in a super wet diaper for a 2 hour drive.  He was amazing at Sea World and at the Rainforest Cafe!

I told you I had a lot to share!  I wanted this to be a post with just writing in it because I had such an eventful day I just had to get it out! Writing is so therapeutic for me. I think I can sleep peacefully now!

LOL Annie, you certainly had an adventure in driving. Sounds like some of the times I tried driving in SoCal. Too many cars, going to fast , six lanes and counting without nice white lines separating each one making it a nightmare to know if I was in an actual lane…ack. However your story takes the cake! So glad you were able to enjoy the Rainforest Cafe though. I’ve heard it is a great place to go with kids.

Note to self…allow hubby to drive if we ever go to Orlando….and bring the navigation system. I hope the rest of the trip is better and David continues to be easy for you.
