Solo Socks
Do you have this problem too?
This is my sock tub. All the socks that have lost their mate find their way into this place of limbo. Sometimes, if they are lucky, a match is made and they are wisked to the safety of the sock drawer.
But if they are unlucky, if karma is frowning upon them, they will lie here for an eternity.
Well, it seems like that long.
They stay in this tub until a craft or silly dress up occasion arises. I have even been known to empty the entire contents of the tub into the trash. Of course, two weeks after such a purge I find one of their mates.
I am searching for ways to keep these solo socks from appearing. How do I keep matches together? And does the dryer really eat socks? Ok, I know it doesn’t litterally swallow them, but there has to be an explanation for this. Josh likes to tell me about the grimlins that sneak into the house when everyone is (finally!) asleep. They steal a couple socks here and there and perhaps a phone charger, set of keys and a shoe or two (but never a complete pair!). These grimlins thrive on my unhappiness. It gives them strength and energy, like Pepsi does for me.
That’s a bit far fetched for me. I just want my socks back!
What do you do with your solo socks? I need ideas!

Drives. Me. CRAZY! That’s it. I’m throwing all the solo socks away!
I have a sock Basket. Makes you wonder really where they all disappear too? You can always make puppets out of them? Or use them for dusting?
They usually go into the drawers until we find their matches.
But, there are companies that actually sell mis-matched socks..so go for it.
For the little bitty ones, grab a lingerie bag, and just pop them in it in their laundry basket, zip it up at laundry time, and you’ll never lose a pair! For older kids, and moms and dads, have a minimum amount of ‘different’ socks, for example, you can have crew socks and short socks, but make them ALL the same, that way if you lose one to the next batch, you just pair the rest up, because they are all the same. Otherwise, just put the spare sock at the top of the dresser, and if you hit the bottom of the hamper, and all the clothes come out and there’s no match, then toss it or use it as a rag!
i safety pinned brighton’s socks together when i put them inthe wash. then i won’t loose them. i should do that with the adult socks too.
My husband gets so mad at me when I don’t “count the socks to make sure they all have a match!” He has OCD!
I quit folding my husband ‘s socks. I just throw them all in a drawer and he can find matches himself. I’m an awesome wife.
