Spotlight Saturday: Silly Eagle Books
Silly Eagle Books is a blog I frequent to get ideas of books to check out at the library with Lizzie. Vanessa is the mom behind the blog and she is a teacher turned SAHM. While all moms are teachers, Vanessa has a passion for teaching and especially involving books. She blogs about all the books she reads with her daughter, who is about a year older than my Lizzie. Her blog also features fun, creative and educational activities that use topics in the books they read as inspiration. She had a bunch of Christmas craft ideas last year that were easy enough for Lizzie to do and have a blast with!
For example, she just recently posted about the book “I Know About Flags” Then, she gave an easy to follow tutorial about how to make small felt flags just like in the book. What a way to learn geography, early reading, fine motor skills and culture! And it is all just from reading a book and making a fun craft. She said her 3 year old loved reading a book about flags and the craft also goes with the Olympics!
Here is her button – please go check her blog out, especially if you have young children. The inspiration she gives me is priceless! If you look on her right sidebar you will see her book recommendations sorted by age! She also has links to some helpful educational resources for parents too. And I can’t leave without telling you about her daughter’s 3rd birthday party! This is just how creative Vanessa is: she threw her daughter a mermaid themed party. But not just Ariel, (even though she gave the partygoers Little Mermaid necklaces as favors) she wrote the invitation in seashells, had a goldfish bar in sea shell shaped bowls, and lots of other crafts and decorations all around this theme! Read it all HERE and maybe it will give you inspiration if you are needing it. Lizzie turns 3 in June and I might be borrowing a few ideas of hers!

Thanks so much for the feature! You are so kind. You know I love your blog and especially those goats.
Every time I get overwhelmed with all the mess in my kitchen I stop and think of your goats and have a good laugh.
Can’t wait to see Lizzie’s bday party! Let me know if you want me to brainstorm any ideas if you want to go with a different theme.
