Barilla Share the Table with healthy pasta dishes
Barilla is in the second year of their “Share the Table” website and they have revamped it to include more recipes from chefs like Mario Batali and tips for making family dinners more meaningful and successful.
The Share the Table site also has quite a few opportunities for sweepstakes and giveaways. Some of them include “Pasta Friday Sweepstakes” with weekly winners of pasta and sauce. They also have “Mealtime Moments Contest” which which gives families who commit to enhancing mealtime the opportunity to share their stories and win select prizes throughout the summer.
And one last thing I want to tell you about is probably one of the most important! You have got to become a fan of ShareTheTable.com, because for every person that does, Barilla will donate $1 to Meals on Wheels Association of America, helping seniors at risk of hunger get the nutritious food they need.
To help spread the word about the new Share the Table site, Mom Central sent me some pasta, a bag full of cooking tools and 4 recipes for me to choose from to cook for my family. Of the four, I chose the “Pasta alla Norma” because it had the most ingredients I recognized and seemed the most kid friendly. The full recipe is below:

I definitely suggest this recipe for families with older children who are not picky eaters. Overall, it was extremely delicious but Lizzie didn’t like the eggplant and it took me twice as long to prepare as the directions state since I was distracted by my preschooler and toddler.

I have never used eggplant before, and had no idea where to find “ricotta salata cheese” to freshly grate. In fact, it took me 2 grocery stores to find it! For a family on a budget this cheese was kinda pricey.
And it says in the recipe the prep time is 12 minutes but it took much more time than that to cut the eggplant, cut the onion & garlic and grate the cheese
Overall a super delicious dish – even if it was a bit pricier than I normally cook and took a bit longer to prepare. The thing I love about Barilla pastas is that they are fortified with extra vitamins so even if I make Lizzie’s favorite – mac & cheese – I know she is eating more than just starch and cheese.
I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Barilla and received products necessary to facilitate my candid review.
