Now that the weather is cooling off, I am craving food to warm my belly. The flavors of this warm potato salad mix together perfectly to create a sweet and yet slightly tangy dish. Overall it is the most amazing potato salad I’ve eaten all year!
I found the recipe on my Motorola tablet using my favorite recipe app – All Recipes Spinner.
I paid the $3 for the pro version because I use AllRecipes.com all the time and the Pro version allows you to access your online recipe box. I figure that $3 saved me a ton more money since I am not buying more cookbooks!
Here is my adapted version of the recipe. The original recipe is on AllRecipes.com.
Ingredients:
- 3 cups diced peeled potatoes
- 4 slices bacon
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1/4 cup white vinegar
- 2 tablespoons water
- 3 tablespoons white sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (I used dried parsley)
Instructions:
- Boil the potatoes until tender.
- Fry the bacon and set it aside.
- Brown the onion in the bacon grease.
- Add vinegar, water, sugar, salt & pepper to the pan. Bring to a boil. Add the potatoes and parsley. Stir and add the chopped bacon.
Eat and enjoy! Soooo easy and delicious! My friend Tesa used a Recipe Puppy app to make some delicious Fruity Pebbles Treats! What is your favorite recipe app?

My step mom was just saying how annoying it is for her to be cooking in the kitchen while her computer is upstairs…she has to go up and down to search recipes, ingredients, etc. I told her to get a smartphone!

Jen, that is so funny! I used to print off the recipes, but that was such a waste of paper and I never found a tidy way to keep all those printouts organized without a huge bulky binder. Yes – a smartphone or tablet is exactly what your step mom needs! I bet she’d wonder what she ever did before she had an iPad LOL 🙂

I am such a sucker for German potato salad. It is my favorite of all time! I like it better than mustard salad.

That looks delicious. I’ll have to check them out. Whenever I use a recipe, I actually do it the old fashioned way – write it by hand on a pad. So this will save me a TON of time . It’s definitely worth the $3. I don’t think I can fully give up my cookbook habit, though. lol

I know what you mean! You should see my kitchen cabinet. I have one dedicated only to my cookbook collection LOL 🙂

this is my kind of potato salad – oh yes! stick to the ribs and lip smacking good. I like the addition of a little bacon, and esp like it hot! It then can be more of a main entree – if you want it to be!
Angie says
Can it be made the day before serving? Would you re heat it ?
