The Exergen Temporal Scanner = lifesaver

by Annie @ Mama Dweeb on December 3, 2012

It always starts with Lizzie. She goes to Kindergarten, gets a few sniffles, and before I know it all three are feverish, coughing, and sick.  As a mom of a 5 year old, 3 year old and 2 year old – I 100% suggest every parent purchase the Exergen Temporal Scanner.

I bought the Exergen Temporal Scanner when Lucy was a tiny baby.  Lizzie started preschool, David was about 2 years old and Lucy was 4 months. That is when she got pneumonia. Taking the temperature of a squirming and sick baby is not easy.  But it is dead-on accurate with the Exergen! You just hold the round button down while you swipe from the middle of the forehead to the temple. No need to add or subtract a degree, it is the correct reading.

You know what is funny? Josh had no idea that what you drink can affect your temperature inside your mouth. And when you take a temp under the arm you can get an inaccurate reading if you don’t have it under it enough. But one quick 2-second swipe of the forehead and you have an accurate tempurature.

See why it is my lifesaver? When all three are sick, I only need one little tool! It is worth every single dime! You can buy it right now on Amazon.com for only $32! (And it qualifies for free shipping with Amazon Prime!) If you know a new mom, this makes a fantastic baby shower gift too.

Do you have an Exergen? What is your experience with it?

Disclaimer: I received this thermometer for review purposes. I purchased one last year and honestly loved it so much I wanted to share it with you. No other compensation was received. All opinions are 100% my own. If you click the Amazon.com link it is an affiliate link. So if you buy an Exergen through that link I might be able to buy half a latte. Thank you for your support!

I have a love/hate relationship with that same one. Even though it is so far from accurate most of the time, I want to throw it out the window, it at least gives us a ballpark temp without “torturing” the kids longer than necessary (because our kids feel that getting their temp taking is child abuse lol). My main issue with it is that you’ll get 6 different readings anywhere from 96.2-99.9 on the same kid 6 times in rapid succession. Maybe we just have a dud, but I’m still glad we have it because it gives a super fast readout & at least I know if it says anything over 101, it usually means there’s a fever that needs to be watched.

oh wow! Sounds like you do have a dud. The first one I bought worked AWESOME until my kids played with it. I don’t know if they dropped it or what but it stopped working. Then this one they just sent me has always been very accurate. If I was you, I would call Exergen and let them know.

I have one of these and I LOVE it. It makes my life so much easier when I am trying to get the boys temp taken.
