Gluten Free Grilled Cheese Sandwiches #Gfree

by Annie @ Mama Dweeb on February 1, 2013

Gluten Free Grilled CheeseIt is so cold outside! I am trying to avoid the bundling and unbundling that is involved in leaving the house. My favorite winter comfort food is a gooey, crispy, grilled cheese sandwich.   Grilled cheese and tomato soup go together like peanut butter and jelly – a match as perfect as Harry and Sally.  Creamy, crispy, melty, zangy, and warm!

After doing my own research (google, Twitter, and just writing down how I feel after eating certain foods) I discovered I have more energy when I avoid gluten. I do not have celiac disease, but when I eat Gfree, I just feel better! So when I was craving a grilled cheese sandwich, I made it with Udi’s Gluten Free white bread.

Tip: The butter is easier to spread on the bread if you freeze the loaf first!

Udis breadsThen, as a special treat, I love the Gluten Free Dark Chocolate Brownie Bites! Oh they are so rich and delicious! And they are dark chocolate so not overwhelmingly sweet, more full and satisfying.

You can find out more about Udi’s here:

Udi’s website – http://www.udisglutenfree.com
Facebook: Udi’s Gluten Free
Twitter: Udi’s Gluten Free

What is your favorite cold weather comfort food? And do you eat Gluten Free?

I received the bread to review. All opinions are 100% my own.

LOVE Udi’s and love having a grilled cheese with their breads. Last time I made a grilled cheese I added some sauteed onions and leafy greens. Oh my yum.

We are not gluten free family but I am going to send this to my SIL. She has gluten allergies.

I Seriously LOVE Grilled cheese sandwiches and the fact that you can eat or make them gluten-free is awesome and looks like it’s still tasty!

Those brownie bites are awesome! I would say comfort food for me is anything w/melted cheese, so this idea works, or mac-n-cheese, or pasta with cheese … you get the idea!

I’ve never avoided gluten but I feel like I should try and see how it makes me feel. I’ll try to find Udi’s products near me so I can start off with an easy to make grilled cheese sandwich. I adore those! And brownies? Count me in!

HI there! Can you post the links to your research on gluten (e.g. how you determined non-gluten foods gave you more energy)? I run the IBS Hotline (a new one est. 2012) and I’d like to know whatever I can about how foods affect the human body. Thanks!

Hi Bobby! Thanks for the question! This is the book I read. It has all the research in it and is a very valuable resource :) http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/g-free-diet-elisabeth-hasselbeck/1101042630

Other than that book, I have just my experience and the experiences of my friends to share. When I switched to Gfree, I had more energy. It is just as simple as trying something and seeing how it works. It worked for me :) But if you want research and sources, check out the book above :)
