How to share home movies without youtube

Those boxes and boxes of home movies sitting around can finally be watched – and shared! – and it is as easy as dropping them in a box.  YesVideo transfers almost any media type to DVD. But the best part is, you can ask them to upload the videos to the Memory Share site and you can share them with anyone you choose!

And brand new – YesVideo has an iPhone app! So whatever videos you put on Memory Share can also be viewed on your iPhone!

Sharing home movies with the Memory Share page has tons of benefits:

  • Anyone can order their own copies of the DVDs
  • On the private page, people can comment, reliving the memories virtually!
  • Portable viewing – share home movies on your iPhone without uploading it to YouTube

I know that YouTube has the private and unlisted features, but there are a few reasons the Memory Share rocks more -

  1. You don’t have to upload it! YesVideo puts the videos on your account for you when they do the transfer
  2. Keep it private. Your YesVideo movies are only shared with who you email!
  3. Ability to purchase DVDs. YouTube can’t do that yet.
  4. Watch entire home movies! Yes, you can watch hours and hours and hours of home movie footage on the Memory Share site – and remember the first reason above. No work for you!

Now here is a video I made to take you through the Memory Share site! It is so simple, I hope you check it out!

Disclosure: I am a compensated ambassador for YesVideo. All opinions are 100% my own.

Ok I checked their site out and I am beyond impressed. Not only are their price great! They also repair damaged videotapes. This is a great way to take care of all your old videos. Thanks so much for sharing! :)

What a fabulous service!

I’m sooooo bad about getting any of my home videos in a viewable format. And I definitely would not feel comfortable putting my really personal family videos on YouTube… even as private.

So many people just have home movies lying around, collecting dust. Putting them on DVD (and for a great price) is really one of the best gifts you can give others or yourself.

I like this for when you’re visiting family and want to show them a movie you made at home! Awesome!

Sandy, definitely try out their service, I am sure you will like it. And check out their retailers – if you are ever the store it is as easy as dropping your movies off at the photo counter :)

YouTube has monopolized the video sharing market so much over the past few years that some people forget there are other services (and maybe even better ones) available. Thanks for sharing :)

You make a great point Robin. I love that Yes Video has their own sharing page, and that people can order DVDs from videos they view. The convenience of it all is just fantastic.

Totally need to do this. I have some really old videos that are probably messed up by now. Love the new site.
