What is your family tradition every holiday? Every Christmas my mom and her sister make the Slavian sweet bread “potica” (pronounced “poh-teets-uh”).  It is a rolled sweet bread filled with raisins soaked in rum. You have no idea how delicious it is!  Then, we always eat it the way my grandpa taught us to – with a slice of salami on top and a (tiny) dollop of horseradish.  A very traditional sweet and savory snack that we all look forward to every year.

I received a Hickory Farms gift basket and will be giving away one to a reader. All opinions are my own.

Josh’s family has a different tradition. They don’t have a traditional dish of food they serve every year. Nope, they have a traditional game!

marshmallow fight

Once a year, the entire extended family comes to Josh’s mom’s house.  And sometime before the big meal, the youngest cousins go up to the 2nd floor and start the marshmallow war!  Down rains the marshmallows from the giggling children and soon everyone – kids, adults, cousins, brothers, everyone – is throwing marshmallows at each other! There is not a stoic person in the house, everyone is laughing, gathering ammo, hiding and planning their attacks.

What is a tradition you have?

To toast these family traditions, I have a “Toast the Traditions” Hickory Farms gift basket to give away! USA only, and hurry!! This giveaway will end Thursday December 19th and 11:59pm CST. I will draw the winner Friday morning!
