When you are a young athlete, you have big dreams. Running a basketball down the court and dunking like Michael Jordan, swinging a golf club like Tiger Woods, throwing a touchdown pass like Troy Aikman, pitching strike out like George Brett – ok I am seriously dating myself here – all kids have their heroes.
For young soccer athletes, these heroes are Fernando Torres, Eden Hazard, and John Terry in London – just to name a few. And the video below shows the imagination and dreams kids have as they play their favorite sports in their backyard. I was taken back to my years as a little girl, singing in my bedroom, pretending magazines were printing my name as a super start. I know these huge dreams, I love this video:
But the even better part about this video is that Samsung really is making the dreams of young athletes come true! Through the Dream the Blues campaign, Samsung is really offering the chance to learn how to play football with Chelsea FC youth coaches in fun and exciting way.
The most passionate kids selected from each local camp (in China, Vietnam and Colombia) will be given a once-in-a-lifetime chance to play with great Chelsea players such as Fernando Torres, Eden Hazard, and John Terry in London.
Those men in the video really will be playing with young athletes.
I just got chills.
I can’t imagine what it will feel like to get the news that they were chosen. Talk about making an impact on a child’s life! This is such an amazing thing for Samsung to do!
When you were a child and played sports, who would you have dreamed of meeting and learning from? I might not have been in sports, ever, but I dreamed of learning to sing from Bette Midler or Barbra Streisand. So I know the power of these dreams and how amazing it will be when a few kids get picked to see them realized!
