No matter how much I try to cut it out, going 100% cold turkey and cutting all sugars is just not fun nor is it easy.
(Side note: who started the phrase “cold turkey”? That sounds disgusting!)
I started doing simple things like only treating myself to a coffee shop latte a few times a month and not buying sweets. But then I ran into a problem: if I bake the sweets at home (like brownies) there they are, in a pan. On my counter. The entire pan, staring at me. I nibble at it all day. I take a huge slice at night.
It is impossible to control my portions without the genius of an individual wrapper.
With 80 calories in each brownie, Special K makes allowing me to indulge without overdoing it, simple. I allow myself one brownie bite every day. I’m trying to cut back to every other day or even just once a week. No more entire pans staring at me. One wrapper. When it is finished, I am done.
They are tiny – which is also a fabulous thing. The minute I start filling up on sweets is the minute all my weight loss goals are failed. A sweet treat should be a tiny taste of pleasure, not a filling snack.
How do these taste? Like a brownie! They really are delicious! They have chunks of chocolate in them and they are incredibly tender and fudgy. So far, this box has lasted a week – I am hoping I can make it last longer as I continue to strive to cut down on unhealthy snacking while allowing myself to “cheat” once in awhile.
Right now they come in two flavors – Divine Fudge and Heavenly Caramel. My favorite is Heavenly Caramel (pictured above). You can literally see the caramel chips in the brownie, it isn’t too sweet but just sweet enough to cut that sugar craving with one tiny brownie.
