Laminate countertops in bathrooms are all the rage this year and for good reason. People are starting to realize the three BIG benefits of having this type of countertop in their new bathroom while considering the renovation project to convert their bathroom to modern or contemporary bathroom designs.
While renovating a bathroom countertop is one of the best and easiest element that can be removed and replaced, there are other reasons as well. First, it’s incredibly inexpensive. Possibly one of the least inexpensive options available. Second, it’s really easy to clean and take care of. Last but not the least, the sheer amount of options available is crazy. Not just colors but every type of option you could imagine.
If you plan on buying laminates for your countertops, these options are the ones you should be aware of before purchasing. So that you find the exact fit for your needs and wants.
Think that laminate counters only come in colors? Guess again! You can also find these in faux metals. Of course, they aren’t real metals because that would jack the price up significantly. But, some options available to you are; silver, copper, brass, stainless steel and pewter. These look really amazing and they might just be the perfect touch of class that you are looking for in your kitchen or bathroom.
Stone like marble and granite can look amazing, but it’s also really expensive. If it’s not something you can fit into your budget, it might be time to start looking at the faux stone for laminate counters. You can find the options such as rock and slate for $2.28 a square foot – marble, mineral and granite for about $3 per square foot, and they look stunning.
Cool Decorative Designs
Laminate also gives you the ability to really make a mark in your kitchen or bathroom by choosing some really cool decorative laminate designs such as yellow haystack – it’s a very bold yellow print, zebra, plaster, another cool one that has a sort of salmon background with swirls on it, another with green printed decorative shapes, and a sort of art deco option with a white background and black scribble lines crossing each other.
Amazing Organic Patterns
This includes patterns like painted wood, antiqued gold, brushed colors, brushed wood with grain, cardboard, bamboo and more. These all have a really different look to them and aren’t like the same old ones.
Some of these, like the painted wood or the antiqued gold, would look really awesome in an industrial or minimalistic kitchen – especially if you live in a loft like a residency with bare vents or wood beams.
Wood can look really amazing in a kitchen or a bathroom, but let’s be honest, between finding the right wood, then getting it cut down to size, then getting it installed; the entire process can become quite expensive. With wood laminates, you don’t have to worry about all of this, it’s incredibly inexpensive and there are so many choices available. You have zebra wood and cane for around $2 per square foot. Then you have mahogany and Bubinga for around $2.28 per square foot. Then you also have walnut and rattan for around $2 per square foot. You can’t beat that price if you tried! These would also look really cool as a backsplash for your kitchen if you have an island or beach theme or even a rustic or lodge theme.
Where To Purchase
These laminate sheets can be purchased anywhere they sell home improvement products. But, for the more intricate designs, you might want to look into laminate or countertop showrooms or specialty fabricators who make these pieces from scratch (and not in bulk).
You have two options when buying these, though, the sheets and the counters on their own. The counters will already have the laminate on them and most of these aren’t going to use really crazy designs like faux wood and metal. Instead, they will usually use plain colors.
On the other hand, the sheets which can be purchased separately can then be installed onto your counter tops and it gives you a little more leeway to get creative, funky and create a countertop that you can really love for years to come.
If you aren’t sure that you would like one of the options available above, consider hopping to a showroom or going to someone who makes these by hand and asking for a few samples. Take them home, lay them on the counter, the wall, etc and make sure that they go well with the other aspects of the room like the paint on the walls, the tile for the backsplash, the flooring, all of your materials including the appliances, and more.
