Softbums just announced the release of their brand new patent pending OMNI multi purpose pocket cloth diaper. I was sent one of the first ones to try out and share with you all and I can honestly say it is a lot more versatile than the Echo system diaper.

They did not change the shape of the diaper. It still fits all sizes of babies in their perfect way. It still has the same Slide 2 Size toggle elastic that cinches to fit itty bitty newborns. What they did do was change the shape and length of the insert and made a patent pending pocket so it can be used as a pocket diaper or an all in two – depending entirely on your choice!

I personally prefer to use my diapers like all in twos.  My son is 17 months old and his poops are more solid and he is doing them less often to I prefer to save money and purchase lots of inserts and reuse the covers.  I thought the shorter length of the new OMNI inserts was a wonderful improvement. I was always afraid that my husband would fold the original inserts the wrong way and leave the microfiber against my baby boy’s skin.  Now I don’t have to worry since they are a perfect size with the cover. Josh prefers pocket diapers since they are as easy to put on my boy as an all in one diaper.  The other feature I found to be helpful is the large pocket opening. Now even my husband’s large hands can stuff the diaper with the insert!

Josh and I are in love with All in Two diapers. What are AI2′s? They are (in my opinion) the easiest to wash and use cloth diapers on the market. They have a snap in soaker and a shell or cover that you can reuse multiple times.

I love AI2s because they are so simple to wash – just unsnap and throw in the pail. They are super easy to store – no more bulky fitteds, just a small basket holds all my soakers. This is more convenient for on the go too – instead of grabbing a bunch of thick diapers I just grab a shell and a few soakers!

Josh much prefers the fit and ease of use of velcro.  I dislike how pilly they become – after a year a snap diaper looks newer than a velcro one. But if you are changing a super wiggly boy the velcro is so worth it! Plus you really can get a better fit with velcro – you don’t have to be constrained by where the snaps are placed.

As you know, Josh is very involved in our cloth diapering.  The Daddy diaper event was so much fun!  Well Nora, the owner of Bum Essentials, was so excited when I told her about my Daddy diaper event! She said that her husband actually influenced the design of the diaper. She said he was not a fan of stuffing pockets or having to put a cover on fitteds – and voila! The Bum Essentials hybrid or all in two was born!

Just looking at this on David, you can see why it is Daddy friendly – velcro!

Look at the incredible fit!

I love the generous wings. David is 24 pounds, but doesn’t carry his weight in his gut, he has a smaller waist. The wings meet in the middle and I love the fit.

The rise is perfect on my tall baby boy.  For smaller babies it has snaps to make it smaller, making it a One Size diaper!

The elastic in the front, back and legs ensures a perfect fit and contains the messes.

David doesn’t have the runny poo anymore, but I can’t imagine anything escaping from this diaper!

Another thing David has is rolly polly thighs, and the Bum Essentials hugs his legs without being too tight.

Look at that fit!  He can really move in these diapers!

I was also sent one of her reversible wetbags to review. Compared to the diaper it is a generous size! I love the drawstring – when all the way pulled out I don’t  see it getting caught in the washing machine.  Being reversible you can have 2 wetbags in one   I really like that when I pull it out of the wash I don’t have to worry about which way it is showing – with some wetbags you have a cotton print on the exterior and you have to stuff the PUL back inside. With this you just take it out of the wash and let it dry!

About Bum Essentials:

The Bumbino diaper has 2 snap in soakers that snap in the front of the diaper. This makes it so much easier when you are changing poopy diapers, and ensures a better fit.

There are 2 bum pads to choose from and both are made from a cotton and bamboo blend.  One of them is called “Terry Towel Bum Pad” because it has a hint of polyester in it and has a very soft terry towel feel to it.  The other is bamboo and cotton and while not as soft it is super absorbent!

Personally, All in Two diapers are my all time favorite.  I adore fitteds but hate covering up the cute prints, so we end up going coverless during the day at home. This has led to a few embarassing moments with relatives picking up a wet Bubs.  All in Ones seem to take too long to clean and dry and pockets are wonderful, just a bit more work than I prefer (but Josh loves them!) With an All in Two diaper I can reuse the cover again after a diaper change!  They are easy to put together and take up less room in a diaper bag if you are packing a few covers and lots of inserts.

And I love the fit. absorbency and fibers of Softbums All in Two diapers!

And I just heard that Softbums is coming out with prints!  The color of Bubs’ dipe is such a happy green one, but I am so in love with pretty prints. Ok, for a boy I love “handsome, boyish” prints.  I like me some cuteness on his tushie!

And I am not a fan of microfiber but it does a fantastic job. It is a super trim fabric that absorbs like crazy!  Well Softbums has snap in soakers that are made of this synthetic fiber but (thankfully!) they have a more natural option as well. You can also get bamboo if you prefer. And I love snaps but Josh likes velcro. (We mention this in almost every video) Softbums sells diapers in both! For the review I let Josh have his way (since it is his event after all!) and we reviewed the aplix. He was relieved and changing the diaper was a breeze for him.

The other amazing thing I loved was the one size feature.  Just a squeeze of the toggles and you can adjust the leg elastic. Some of the one size snap diapers have so many snaps they overwhelmed Josh at first glance. This diaper is clean and easy to use! One quick note about the adjustable elastic: in the video I put my finger in and adjusted it that way – you can also squeeze the toggles from the outside. Really, just get this diaper in your hands and play around with it, you will be surprised at how easy it is to size the diaper.

Otter blotters from Otter Babies LLC are the cadillacs of cloth diapers. They seriously have so many amazing features that you are getting a huge bang for your buck!  When you watch my video of the overview, you will see how Debby thought of just about everything when she created these amazing – and hugely daddy friendly – diapers!

Before we get to the overview and Josh’s opinion, let me give you my 2 cents and introduce you to Debby.  I love everything about these diapers.  The snap in O-Pad  is hugely innovative.  You can tell which end has more padding and then snap it in the direction you need.  I love that there are so many squishy and thirsty layers but they will wash great and dry quick because of how they are sewn. And boy are these layers absorbent!  Not even the teeniest wicking happened but when I took the dipe off David almost 2 hours later it was drenched.  Gotta love hemp and bamboo! And I am a huge fan of her front pocket that hides the hook and loop!  Now Josh can have his velcro (can you tell I am a snap girl?) and I can have a non-snagging-in-the-wash dipe!  Plus, Bubs can take off his Bum Genius now, I’d like to see him try and get to this one.

And the O-Pad is A-Mazing! It is elasticized to catch the mess and it is stuffable! So the doubler I show you in the video can be put inside the O-Pad and eliminate bunching.

She also has a Multi-Size Snap Down cover that I did not review in the video.  Check it out here – It (like all her diapers) has optional mesh tabs that while not good for night it is excellent for a potty trainer during the day since it allows the diaper to be pulled on like underwear! This one is actually better for being used as a swim diaper than the multsize dipe I mention in the video.  This Multi Size AI2 is a great swim dipe because it is trimmer than the red floral one I reviewed.

Finally, I wish I had reviewed the regular front cover in minky instead of supplex (the blue one in the video).  I have heard so many mamas rave about the super soft feeling of minky on a diaper and the regular front cover comes in minky!  Oh well, the supplex (which is just like PUL but softer in my opinion) fits over the clothes better so that works.  But I am totally going to go look at her minky fabric choices now
