Readers, it has been far too long since I gave away any fluff.  Look at this pretty pocket diaper I got in my swag bag at BlogHer!  It is a BabyKicks Hemp pocket diaper and the snaps just pop on that white PUL!

When I cloth diaper David, I like things simple.  Natural fibers are my preference and that is why I asked Josh if we could review the Mother Ease line of cloth diapers.  They make all in ones, but I wanted to show how Daddy friendly a fitted and cover could be, since I like them so much!  And you know what? He still prefers an all in one or pocket.  Go figure.  But he did say that since these have snaps he would still use them.

Since these were my request for the event, I will tell you why I love them so much! Then you can watch the video of Josh changing the diaper and giving his opinions later.

This is why I love Mother Ease: they are simple, natural, affordable, basic, easy, dependable.  A Mother Ease cloth diaper will look newer much longer than a printed diaper. The simplicity and basic colors create a blank slate for any creative mom to create art work.  I have seen some beautifully dyed dipes – they have some vibrant ones for sale on their site – but other moms have tye dyed and they turn out wonderful!  I believe that natural fibers wash easier and better than synthetics – and Mother Ease is made of either cotton or bamboo terry.  Yes, they do offer a polyester fabric as a stay dry option, but you can choose not to buy that if you want.

These diapers are affordable too!  This is a total plus for me – I can build my stash  for a lot less money if I go with these.  The sized Sandy’s range in price (depending on choice of fabric) from $11.75-14.25.  And the One Size dipes range from $11.95-14.75.  The All in Ones are $15.95-17.95!  These are some of the lowest priced AIO’s on the market.

Mother Ease is also known for their Air Flow snap covers.  Snaps – oh joy!  These are side snapping, making it more difficult for the baby to take off on his/her own.  And the snaps are spaced out far enough apart allowing for air to ventilate. They come in solid colors or adorable safari prints.

How do they fit and work for David? As you can tell on the video, Josh’s first impression was that the large Sandys was too loose on David.  I inspected it and discovered it wasn’t too loose, it just wasn’t too tight, and that threw my husband off a bit.  We are so used to diapers that give David red marks on his little thighs, but these are snug but not too tight.  The AirFlow cover keeps it all in – nothing leaks out of them.  Um….well almost nothing.  We did have a hugely explosive poo from David being sick that squirted a bit out of the top.  And according to their website the Sandys can absorb 15 ounces of liquid!  I’ll trust them on that and just be amazed.  For now, it hasn’t leaked and works very well.

In a bit, you’ll get to see what my husband thinks of these hilarious leg warmers, but my opinion: They are stinkin’ cute and save me loads of time during diaper changes.  Babylegs has such a wide variety of patterns that any taste is sure to find a match.  Just look how well they match his Nifty Nappy and iCandy by Urban Fluff dipes!  I just love them. So much.

Plus after looking at their site, I was inspired with the many different ways you can wear them – they are not just for the babies. I might have to get some for Lizzie and see how she likes them, since she loves wearing skirts in the winter!  I am not trendy enough to venture into wearing them on my arms like some of the gals on the site, but my pre-teen niece sure is. I bet she would even wear the leg warmers as layers on top of other socks!  You should see that girl, she has no fashion fear, oh I admire that.

I was sent the Ranger style to try on Bubs and was very glad they chose that one for me.  Green and brown are such common colors for gender neutral diapers that his Babylegs went with almost every single diaper I reviewed!  The fit? They were a tad long, which is excellent. I want him to be able to use these for as long as he is in diapers.  Thankfully David isn’t so mobile that he is crawling away from me during diaper changes, but if he was (or should I say when he is?) I won’t have to worry about his legs getting cold when he zooms away from me.  Just put the diaper on and *presto!* Diaper change is done!

I can’t wait for summer! Just inhaling the fresh scent of line dryed diapers makes me relax and happiness floods my face. I am such a dweeb, I know, but one of my favorite thing about cloth diapering is washing them. Sure, trying to avoid touching the poop is an adventure all its own, but there are so many joys with washing the diapers.

The scent. I am all about the smells and I pick detergents that make me happy to smell them! That is also why I line dry. I love the freshness of a crisp line dried dipe.

By now I am sure you have heard of Rockin’ Green Soap.  Kim, the owner and creator of this amazing cloth diaper detergent, is a self-professed “soap nerd.” She has amazing creativity and her detergent smells so yummy – it makes washing diapers fun!  It is the same price as Tide, but you use less of it in the wash so I ended up saving money in the long run.

I have to admit, I was very disappointed when I switched to Rockin’ Green and discovered the big one – ammonia – smelling up my diapers.  I live in the country and we have a private well, and no water softener. I quickly learned that a capful of Calgon water softener added to the main wash cycle of each load helped the Rockin’ Green do it’s job without the minerals blocking it. But Calgon isn’t cheap and I wondered if Kim was ever going to carry a formula for us moms with hard water.

And she is!  She is getting super close to releasing her Hard Rock detergent!  She has spent hours, days, a super long time researching all the ingredients to help her detergent be cloth diaper and earth friendly in hard water. Just read her article about it all, she is a very hard working woman.  As soon as that is released you better believe I’ll be snagging some of it.

What else do I love about Rockin Green Soap? It is super green, smells amazing, great for the environment, safe for your diapers, and Kim provides the most wonderful customer service! Yes, the scents are what attracted me to this detergent and the fact that they are proven safe for my diapers was a total bonus. I think my priorities are a bit skewed, but the scents are what make the laundry so much more pleasant.

There is no video or Daddy review this time since putting detergent in a washing machine makes for a very short video.  Josh did say that he likes this detergent because he can trust that it won’t harm the diapers and he is all about taking care of them for as long as possible – and avoiding having to strip the diapers. As he has said in previous videos, the less amount of steps in cloth diapering the better!

I was able to try out the brand spankin’ new Kissaluvs All in One and it is now one of the first diapers I reach for out of the dryer.  I love that it is an all in one and that it washes and dries so much faster than other All in Ones!  I am a natural fibers girl at heart, so the microfiber didn’t thrill me to pieces, but it sure made the diaper trim and absorbent!

My first impression was “oh my goodness how colorful!” I love color – it sure brightens my day to fold happy and bright diapers vs. white boring ones! The Marvels AIOs come in 4 fabulous colors at the moment: Butter, Raspberry, Kelly Green and Summer Sky.

I first heard about Kissaluvs when I was pregnant with David. A lot of my cloth diapering friends suggested Kissaluv size 0 for a newborn since they have a snap down area that prevents rubbing the umbilical chord. I wasn’t able to personally try them out on David as a teeny baby but my friends have and said they loved the trimness of them and excellent fit on the newborn.

I have always associated the name Kissaluvs with high quality.  They also have a one size diaper cover and Marvels one size fitted.  It is so exciting to see this excellent brand growing so much!

As you can see in the video, Josh had to play around with the snaps to get the fit perfect, or to his liking.  Kissaluvs does not offer velcro as an option and that is the only thing keeping this diaper from getting the 100% satisfied Daddy Award. Ok, there is no such award, but Josh said that if it had velcro he’d be in fluffy heaven.  Since I am the one that does all the diaper laundry, I like the snaps. A lot. They help the diaper last a lot longer since you don’t have to worry about replacing worn out velcro/aplix.

I don’t have to cover up my adorable cotton prints anymore – and I don’t have to worry about wicking!  Urban Fluff has solved the problem and I am a very happy mama!  The iCandy diapering system thrills me to pieces!  In the early years of cloth diapering, I slowly became addicted to the too-cute-for-words cotton prints on fitteds. I drooled over Muttaquin Baby diapers and the heavenly Goodmamas. I let Lizzie go coverless to “air out her tushie” but really I liked to see those cute prints.  Covering them up was a crying shame.

But now I can have those prints and stay dry too!

Urban Fluff created a snap-in PUL liner so there is absolutely no wicking. I want to give them a standing ovation for this.  I know it is a Daddy diaper event, but this made me, the mommy, very happy!

How did it hold up?  Perfectly!  As they promised there was no leaking or wicking!  The lay in insert soaked it all up and the snap in PUL kept his clothes dry.

We were sent the Toddler size since David is 23 pounds. This chunky monkey is all belly and no waist so the waist was a touch big for him. But it fit his chunky thighs really well.

A few readers commented on how David is too easy a baby to change for Josh.  So my friend generously offered to let Josh demonstrate this diaper on her grumpy 16 month old son. He is 30 pounds and the diaper fit him much better than David. This is also a bit more of a “reality” diaper change. Enjoy!

LolliDoo Diapers are the softest pocket diapers I have reviewed yet!  They also come from a super eco-conscious company and appear to be extremely long lasting. I already knew that fleece could be used as a diaper cover and have seen a few fleece all in ones or pocket diapers. But it wasn’t until I was introduced to LolliDoo diapers that I learned that plastic beverage bottles could be recycled into a polyester/spandex material that is as soft as microfleece!

Wow, going green is looking cuter every time I change David’s diaper!

Other features that piqued my interest were the recyclable metal snaps, extra large opening for the insert and they are made in the USA!  I had never thought about what happens to diapers when I am finished using them, but it is so good to know that these snaps can be recycled.  I also really like that Melissa and Ali pay workers in the United States to make the diapers – keeping jobs in the country!

I am also impressed with the way you adjust the elastic in the legs to make it a truly one sized diaper.  With a lot of snaps it can appear overwhelming, but if you adjust the elastic inside the leg it keeps the front cuter and cleaner looking.  I love not overwhelming my hardworking husband!

How does it work?  Amazing! I was expecting a bit of leaking or wicking, but this material holds up really well. Since it is a pocket I can stuff it with my hemp/bamboo inserts too boosting the absorbency to the level of my choice.

And the name “LolliDoo Diapers” is one of the most unique ones I have heard of.  The owners of LolliDoo diapers are gal pals Melissa and Ali.  They had been wracking their brains over a name for their company and one night they were just chatting about security blankets they had as children.  Melissa called her blanket her “Lolly” and Ali had one she called her “Di Doo.”  They loved the combination of “Lolli Di Doo Diapers” but agreed to shorten it to “LolliDoo,” and that is how the name was born!

Sweet Pea diapers now have an All in Three diaper that provides wonderful protection while keeping diaper changes easy enough for a daddy to do. Josh and I are both fans of these diapers. Josh likes how you just snap and you are done. I like how you can reuse the cover for your fitteds too. I am all about using covers more than once.

It is an All in Three because it has 2 super absorbent snap in soakers that attach to each other.  From the baby to the diaper you have microfleece, microfiber and hemp. These bad boys can take some serious damage!

The fit is amazing.  It is a super fluffy tush – you trade trimness for absorption.  But for as thirsty as this diaper is it isn’t as thick as some overnight diapers.  Plus, since it has snaps it will keep looking nicer longer. That is why I am not a huge fan of velcro/aplix.  If you don’t clean it then it starts to look worn much faster than a snap diaper does.

And I also love the lower rise.  It fits my 23 pound Bubs so perfectly!

Personally, All in Two diapers are my all time favorite.  I adore fitteds but hate covering up the cute prints, so we end up going coverless during the day at home. This has led to a few embarassing moments with relatives picking up a wet Bubs.  All in Ones seem to take too long to clean and dry and pockets are wonderful, just a bit more work than I prefer (but Josh loves them!) With an All in Two diaper I can reuse the cover again after a diaper change!  They are easy to put together and take up less room in a diaper bag if you are packing a few covers and lots of inserts.

And I love the fit. absorbency and fibers of Softbums All in Two diapers!

And I just heard that Softbums is coming out with prints!  The color of Bubs’ dipe is such a happy green one, but I am so in love with pretty prints. Ok, for a boy I love “handsome, boyish” prints.  I like me some cuteness on his tushie!

And I am not a fan of microfiber but it does a fantastic job. It is a super trim fabric that absorbs like crazy!  Well Softbums has snap in soakers that are made of this synthetic fiber but (thankfully!) they have a more natural option as well. You can also get bamboo if you prefer. And I love snaps but Josh likes velcro. (We mention this in almost every video) Softbums sells diapers in both! For the review I let Josh have his way (since it is his event after all!) and we reviewed the aplix. He was relieved and changing the diaper was a breeze for him.

The other amazing thing I loved was the one size feature.  Just a squeeze of the toggles and you can adjust the leg elastic. Some of the one size snap diapers have so many snaps they overwhelmed Josh at first glance. This diaper is clean and easy to use! One quick note about the adjustable elastic: in the video I put my finger in and adjusted it that way – you can also squeeze the toggles from the outside. Really, just get this diaper in your hands and play around with it, you will be surprised at how easy it is to size the diaper.

I love the fit and color of my Rumparooz pocket diaper!  And talk about silky softness – it has microchamois against the baby’s skin – I would love to have some pants made of that stuff. We haven’t tested it with poop yet, but judging from the inner gussets (which you can see in my video) there won’t be a chance of any escaping and that gets a  high five from me!

We were sent the chocolate to review and I adore the color. But after browsing their website I am really wanting to get some adorable prints too!

Check out that great fit!  But don’t let the picture fool you, David doesn’t crawl like that. In fact he was pretty upset that I made him sit like that at all. He would much rather scoot around in a sitting position than crawl on all fours!
And he is more than welcome to scoot and poop in this diaper – those inner gussets outta catch it!

The only thing I am not a huge fan of is the microfiber – I am all about natural fibers. But it works well and soaks up lots of pee, so I can understand why they use it.

This is a wonderful company to work with too.  They are my neighbors in good old Colorado!  The creator of Rumparooz designed them when her daughter would have such  messy diapers that each diaper change was an outfit change as well.  Being a seamstress she fixed the problem by sewing her own diaper for her daughter and created those signature inner gussets.  Now Rumparooz are sold in 23 different countries!  She has been sewing diapers for 4 years and they just added a line of diapers for teeny newborns called “Little Joeys!”
