I woke up groggily. Lucy sat up and the first thing she saw were her shoes. “Eh! Eh!” she grunted as she pointed her chubby finger towards the shoes and lifted her feet into the air.

Josh was talking casually about his trip into town.

“Da, Da!” Lucy exclaimed.

“You want to go to town with Daddy?” I asked.

She started to laugh and lifted her feet higher in the air, so I’d get the hint and put them on her feet.

Lizzie began to wake up too and plopped into the living room, in front of the computer. As Josh began to leave with Lucy, Lizzie asked, “Mommy, can I watch Busy Town again?”

“Sure,” I answer. “Then we Daddy gets back we can all eat breakfast.”

I relax on the couch, laptop open, ready to blog. The house is quiet as David slowly walks in.

And as he watches the cartoon, he pees on the floor.

Ugh. I forgot to have him pee first thing!

He feels embarrassed and lays on the couch with me. 

And I sit, in this quiet moment, and love my little life. Weekdays are chaotic with my job, babysitter, meals, cleaning, ballet, blogging and chickens.  In fact, Lizzie has to be at ballet in 3 hours. But right now I am just a mom of 3 tiny kids that are not too big yet. A baby, a preschooler and a little girl.

I close the laptop, clean up the pee, get dressed and start making the french toast before our day gets busier.

David tells every single person he meets, “I’m tall like my DAD!”

Everyone.

He says this phrase at least 10 times a day to me too.

It all started when he was potty training. He wasn’t tall enough to stand up to the toilet and pee. Then, just recently, he had a growth spurt. He doesn’t need a step stool anymore – he can pee standing on the floor just like his dad does.

I am oh-so-thankful he omits the peeing part of the story.

Not only is David tall like his dad, but he is just as kind, funny, imaginative and easy-going.  He is the polar opposite of his big sister. When Lucy cries, he rushes over to her and tenderly strokes her cheek, “it’s ok, baby woo-see.” Hello puddle of goo that was once my heart.

He can turn pots and pans into trucks and trailers. His imagination knows no bounds! He sings all the time and when he says something funny he laughs from deep in his belly.

And he is going to be three years old a few days after Easter. Three? Wow.

(And I know how lucky I am that he is potty trained! I am flipping excited about it. Like crazy happy!)

My sweet baby bubs. He still has baby cheeks and his fingers are still slightly pudgy. He might be “tall like his dad” but he still fits on my lap and closes his eyes, his huge eyelashes tickling his cheeks.  I soak up cuddles now – he is growing taller and taller ever day!

The weather is finally warming up, so we can get out of the house and take some lovely walks.  And you have no idea how much I am loving this. But a few weeks ago the weather was super crummy. And it will only get super crummy again. (April showers right?)

We needed fun. And this fun didn’t have to be healthy, but it had to be budget friendly.

Here is our budget friendly unbirthday celebration!

I let Lizzie and David pick out one cake mix each. Then I bought a large can of white frosting. (Yes, I could have made my own frosting, but this was easier).

Then, I let them each pick out one topping. Any topping they wanted, sky was the limit! Lizzie picked out chocolate donuts and David picked out blue and white chocolates.

Once home, I divided the frosting in half and dyed it the color of their choice.  We ended up with a “Cinderella cake” and a “Spiderman cake.” Then, I put candles on the cake and we sang songs to them and let them blow out the candles!

Most fun we have had in a long time. It was a gaggle of giggles!
